...about Blue

We took over the 1450 Cafe Bar in September 2011 with the intention of creating a great restaurant on all levels. The building itself is an inspiration - as soon as we saw it we knew that we had a special location that simply deserved to be up there as one of the best restaurants in the West Midlands.

The team at the Blue Bistro & Restaurant are a mix of youthful enthusiasm, creativity and experience. We all have passion for the restaurant and we believe that Blue should be a great retaurant for our customers and a fun place to work. Setting the chefs free to create great, exciting, delicious food is key to the way Blue works, so expect the menu to change frequently.

Freedom comes with responsibility, of course. We have all bought into a policy of ethical sourcing of meat for the restaurant. We are trying to be as local as possible with our suppliers - and there are some great local suppliers that make this an easy option. Our meat comes from the Earlsdon Butchers, who only supply free range meat, and our fish comes mainly from Clive Miller, an award winning fishmonger based in Coventry Market, which is walking distance from Blue.

Likewise with wines. We are focusing on European wines, partly because we have family affinities with France, Spain and Italy, partly because we think they provide a rich palette, but also because we have to take some responsibility for food miles. This led us to source some incredible English wines from Warwickshire and beers from Coventry that we're delighted to have on the menu.

As we get a bit of time we will be talking more about the restaurant, our suppliers and our team.
